NSW RTA Training Course - Apply Traffic Control Plans - Yellow Card

This course provides training for people who are required to set up and work with Traffic Control Plans (TCP).

 Note: This course does not qualify participants to control traffic with a stop/ slow bat (this requires the RTA Blue Card) or select suitable Traffic Control Plan’s (this requires the RTA Red Card).

 The Photo Yellow Card qualification is suitable for:

-          Current holders of the NSW RTA Stop/Slow Blue Card who also need to setup traffic control devices

-          People who are not controlling traffic with a stop/slow bat, but who are setting out signs, cones & barriers.

Course content

       Workplace health and safety legislation (Act, Regulations, Australian Standards, Codes of Practice)

       Identify safety implications of traffic control at road works

       Linking traffic control to construction work & the OHS legislation

       Personal role and responsibilities

       Set up a Traffic Control Plan

       Set up and Close down traffic control devices according to a nominated TCP

       Set up and Close down traffic control devices according to OHS and legislative requirements

       Check, clean and store equipment on completion of work

       Close out a Traffic Control Plan

       Common requirements for Traffic Control

       Personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements

       Traffic control procedures

       Theory Assessments.

       Two way radio operation

       Practical Exercise

Nominal course duration

       7 hours

       Adequate literacy is required to complete the written assessments.

What to expect on the day

       A photo of each participant will be taken on the day (for the Yellow Card)

       Knowledge and skills assessment to be completed at end of the course

       Participation in a practical exercise

What to Bring

       Current WorkCover NSW OHS Construction Induction Card (White Card) issued after April 2004

Certification

       Successful participants will receive a Statement of Completion issued by the NSW RTA licenced trainer.

       The wallet size RTA NSW Yellow Card is sent direct to the participant after processing

       The RTA NSW Apply Traffic Control Plans Yellow Card qualification is valid for 3 years.
